Estrada has surgery to repair knee, elbow injuries

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers catcher Johnny Estrada was scheduled to
have surgery Thursday to repair a torn medial meniscus in his left
knee.

The team said he would undergo the arthroscopic surgery in
Birmingham, Ala. He was also going to have a bone spur removed from
his right elbow.

Estrada, a switch-hitting catcher, batted .278 with 10 homers
and 54 RBIs in 120 games. He threw out just 7.6 percent of runners
attempting to steal, the worst among NL catchers.

Estrada hurt his knee trying to beat an infield grounder at
Atlanta on Sept. 22 and missed the final week of the season.
