Browning arrested on support charge

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Jail records show Cincinnati Reds minor league pitching coach Tom Browning has been charged with nonpayment of child support.

The former Reds star, who threw a perfect game in 1988, was arrested on Friday.

Browning was drafted by the Reds in 1982. After two years in the minors, he was called up in September 1984. He spent 12 years in the majors, going 123-90 with a 3.94 ERA.

In 2006, the Reds invited Browning to spring training as a special instructor. Since then, he has coached for the Billings Mustangs and Carolina Mudcats, both Cincinnati farm teams.

Browning was being held on $99,008.36 bail.
