CHICAGO -- The severed head of a goat was found outside of Wrigley Field early Monday, about 12 hours before the Chicago Cubs opened their home schedule with a game against Colorado.
Chicago police told The Associated Press they were treating the incident as a prank. A similar incident happened two years ago, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The goat's head was found on the Harry Caray statue outside of the park, according to the Tribune.
The Cubs are allegedly haunted by the Curse of the Billy Goat, dating back to 1945 when tavern owner Billy Sianis, was removed from a World Series game because his pet goat's odor bothered nearby fans. Sianis, who had two tickets (one for him, the other for his goat) reportedly said the Cubs would not win a World Series again. They haven't since.
Goat and sheep's heads are available at a number of ethnic butcher shops in Chicago.
