Here are the current playoff scenarios in effect during the final weekend of the regular season. For a look at the current playoff picture, check out the Hunt for October.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

If the NL West champion finishes with the best record and the Phillies and the Cardinals finish with the same record:

The Phillies would be the No. 2 seed based on their head-to-head record against the Cardinals (4-1).

Matchups: NL wild card at Philadelphia; St. Louis at NL West champion

AMERICAN LEAGUE

If the Tigers and the Twins finish in a tie atop the AL Central:

Based on Minnesota winning the season series, the two teams would meet in a one-game playoff on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Metrodome to determine the AL Central champion.

Matchups: AL Central champion at NY Yankees; Boston at LA Angels
