Andrew McCutchen leaves Pirates

MIAMI -- Pittsburgh center fielder Andrew McCutchen has been allowed to leave the team while tending to a personal matter.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle declined to reveal any specifics of McCutchen's situation, nor did he say when he will return to the club. Jose Tabata is sliding over from left field to take McCutchen's spot in center for Wednesday night's game against the Florida Marlins.

Tabata is also back to batting leadoff, something he did for Pittsburgh's first 12 games. McCutchen had led off the previous five outings for the Pirates entering Wednesday.

McCutchen is batting .230 with three home runs and 10 RBIs this season.
