I don't see how you can rank the Cardinals ahead of the Phillies, especially since Philadelphia had a better record than St. Louis did last week and do so overall as well. Also, the Phillies played the Cardinals two weekends ago and took two of three from them.

The Phillies deserve to be ahead of the Cardinals right now. Let Big Mac play a couple of games before the Cards jump ahead of the Phils.

Matt Dever
Wildwood, N.J.

Have you noticed that the Yankees are 7-2 over their last nine games against Boston, Cleveland and the Power Alley's No. 1 team, the Mariners? The Yankees will hold the top spot before long, and no parades will be needed until October.

Mike O'Boyle
Princeton, N.J.

The Cardinals at No. 3 and the Cubs at No. 10 even though they have the same record and are tied for first place. Come on. Show some respect to the Cubs.

Jeff Federman
Lawrence, Kan.

“ Bouncing back from an eight-game losing streak with a nine-game tear and all you can give the Cubs is a 10 spot? What do we have to do this week, go 6-0 again? ”
—  Nick Sowers, Los Angeles

Shea Hillenbrand in the minors by the All-Star break? Are you serious? He and Manny Ramirez are the only two Red Sox to have played every day so far. He has been hovering around .300 the whole year while playing third base for the first time, and playing solidly, too. His playing time may decrease when Nomar gets back and John Valentin moves to third, but until then give the guy a break!

Adam Kilgore
York, Maine

Finally, the Yankees are getting your respect, just as they are turning it on. Why play the season? Yanks over Cards in five.

Jonathan Seibald
Larchmont, N.Y.

So the Deviled Eggs, who've obviously been left out on the picnic table in the hot sun a little too long, are playing .280 baseball while playing only 12 games against teams over .500. I wouldn't have thought it possible, but this season is uglier than their stadium.

Walt Davis
Carrboro, N.C.

The Athletics are 24-25 and they get ranked 12th. The Orioles are 24-25 and are ranked 19th. Looks like somebody is playing favorites here.

Harry Brenner
Atlanta

“ With John Smoltz's arm showing definite signs of recovery, and the bats coming out of their slump, the Braves won't be 15th for long. Count on it. Watch out Phillies ... the object in your mirror is closer than it appears. ”
—  Brian Sturgis, Sonora, Calif.

How could you put the Rangers near the bottom? Oh right, their pitching is terrible.

Matt Sussman
Toledo, Ohio

Why do people keep saying the Mariners need another bat? They're first in the AL in runs scored.

People say the A's are back in it, but they are one game further behind (13) the Mariners than before (12) they started "winning." Watch the Mariners win 100-plus games and win the World Series this season!

Andrew Smith
Seattle

Please keep up your anti-Yankee campaign. As a Yankee fan, I find it particularly amusing. I hate to burst your bubble, but New York only has parades when the Yankees win Championships ... though it must seem like it's every day.

Anthony Perrone
New York
