| Freddy Garcia as a darkhorse for the Cy Young Award? Are you crazy, how about the front-runner. Roger Clemens gets good run support and has one more win and a higher ERA than Garcia. I would say that Clemens is the dark horse.

Note to Chi Town. Things are getting kind of Twilight Zone on us aren't they? The Cubs win while scoring two runs and the White Sox win with Jose Canseco in right field. Somebody save us!
Brian Guest Arlington Heights, Ill. While I think the Astros in the top 10 is appropriate, you may be jumping the gun posting them at No. 7. Wade Miller and Roy Oswalt are the only good starting pitchers the Astros have. Granted, the offense is one of the best in the bigs but we all know "pitching wins championships." Scott Elarton and Shane Renolds always gets pounded while Tim Redding has potential, but is still a big question mark. Gary Kowis Houston What a dilemma. The Devil Rays win three of five and keep Fred McGriff and maybe, just maybe, deserve to move up ... but considering the standard they set while in the Power Alley cellar, who do you punish in their place? It's time to be *gasp* daring and say the Mariners own the top spot for the rest of the year. I dare ya. Owen Henderson Boston As if there was any doubt before, Ichiro's recent slump proved it. Seattle has proved they are a real team. Lou Piniella knows how to rest his players. They'll definitely be ready in October. But watch those surging A's in the wild-card race. They ain't dead yet! Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder and Barry Zito are amazing. Too bad Oakland won't be able to afford all three when free agency strikes. S.E. Will Seattle |
