Led the Mariners in highest percentage of swings put into play ... Finished second in the AL in highest percentage of swings put into play (57.5%); third in lowest percentage of swings that missed (7.2%); and fifth in batting average vs. left-handed pitchers ... Made 70 starts at shortstop, 17 at second base and five in left field ... Hit in nine-straight from May 12-22 ... Placed on 15-day disabled list June 7 with a strained trapezius muscle ... Nine-game tear was highlighted by his April 17 performance vs. Las Vegas in which he went 4-for-6 with three RBI's ... Was promoted to Seattle May 6 and started that night at second base ... Collected only one hit in his first 11 at-bats, then went on a 13-for-28 tear (.464) from May 18 to 23 to push his average to .359 ... Opened the season as Toronto's utility infielder, making appearances at second base, third base and shortstop ... Played extremely sparingly, seeing action in only 17 games before being optioned to Syracuse (AAA) July 5.

Recalled to California May 22 and batted .302 through Aug. 28 ... A 20-for-102 (.194) slump to end the year dropped his season mark to a still-respectable .272 ... Established career highs in most offensive categories ... Hit .356 (32-90) with runners in scoring position ... All seven of his home runs, like the four he had hit in previous major league action, came against right-handed pitchers.

1991
Spent his first full season in the majors and put up solid numbers ... Led the AL with 19 sacrifice hits, trailing only Pittsburgh's Jay Bell (30) among all major leaguers ... Suffered a concussion when hit by a Dan Galeker pitch June 20 at Detroit ... Batted .285 (55-193) after the All-Star break.

1990
Was an International League All-Star for Syracuse (AAA) and was named MVP of the I.L. All-Star Game ... Made his major league debut against California July 14 and collected his first hit against Angels' righty Brian Harvey ... Hit his first big league homer off Cleveland's Colby Ward Aug. 31, and drove in a career-high five runs.
