Placed 2nd in AL Cy Young Award voting after posting the Yankees' first 20-win season since 1985 (Ron Guidry) ... Became New York's youngest Opening Day starter since 1910 ... Led the Yankees in GDPs induced, highest groundball/flyball ratio allowed, lowest stolen base percentage allowed, least home runs allowed per nine innings and ERA at home ... Finished second in ERA at home and highest ERA on the road; eighth in least home runs allowed per nine innings and highest batting average allowed with runners in scoring position; and ninth in runners caught stealing and lowest stolen base percentage allowed ... Became only the fifth Yankee rookie starter ever to win five games after September 1 (Russ Ford, 7-0 in 1910; Ernie Bonham, 6-1 in 1940; Mel Stottlemyre, 5-2 in 1964; Bob Wickman, 5-1 in 1992) ... Began the season with the Yankees and was optioned to AAA Columbus on May 16 ... Was recalled on May 27 and made his Major League debut in relief on April 29 at Kansas City ...
