Roger Clemens and Pedro Martinez face off Saturday for the fourth time in their careers, lending extra intrigue to one of the most interesting early-season series with the new unbalanced schedule now in place.
Last season Clemens and Martinez had an epic battle in a Boston win at Yankee Stadium in May. Both pitched complete games, with Pedro tossing a four-hit shutout and striking out nine and Clemens giving up just two runs and fanning 13. The pair hooked up again two weeks later, but Clemens lasted only one inning before leaving with an injury while Martinez gave up one run and struck out seven in six innings.
The first meeting between the two came in Game 3 of the 1999 ALCS. Martinez again got the better of Clemens in this one as he struck out 12 in seven innings. Clemens, meanwhile, got blasted as he allowed five runs in two-plus innings.
Here's a look at how the two have fared against their division rivals during their careers.
