Way back at the start of the 2002 season, we had members of ESPN.com's baseball staff make their predictions for the season. We thought it would be fun to take a look back and see who fared best.

Each place missed in the final standings is worth one point. For example, if someone picked the Angels to finish third in the AL West, they lost one point since Anaheim finished second. Here were the predictions:

There was a three-way tie for first between ESPN.com senior writer Jayson Stark, ESPN.com fantasy writer Brandon Funston and Tom Tippett of Diamond Mind Baseball with 24 points apiece. But due to our unique tiebreaker (*Expos home crowds over 10,000), Tippett came out the winner as his prediction of 23 Expos crowds of over 10,000 was the closest to the actual number (33). Stark's prediction of 14 was next closest, followed by Funston with seven.

ESPN.com senior writer Rob Neyer and ESPN The Magazine staff writer Andy Latack finished in a tie for second with 26 points apiece.

ESPN.com columnist Sean McAdam failed in his attempt to repeat as champion as he finished with 28 points.
