Playoff matchups
If the regular season were to end today, this is how the playoffs would look:

National League
Houston at Arizona
Atlanta at St. Louis

American League
Cleveland at Seattle
Oakland at N.Y. Yankees

Momentum meter
Atlanta Braves: The Braves are going to have a tough enough time in the playoffs as it is, but they got more bad news Saturday, learning that catcher Javy Lopez might miss the entire postseason with an ankle sprain.

Seattle Mariners: Is there anything this team can't do? The M's beat the Rangers Saturday to tie the 1906 Cubs for the most wins in history. And according to several Mariners players that talked to ESPN, no one on the team tested positive for tuburculosis, the illness that landed shortstop Carlos Guillen in the hospital this week.

Andy Pettitte The Yankees' pitcher passed his test Saturday, throwing five scoreless innings Saturday in his first start since getting hit on the elbow with a line drive on Sept. 26.

Mariners chase history
Seattle's record: 116-45
Seattle's pace: 117-45
All-time wins record: 1906 Cubs, 116-36
AL wins record: 2001 Mariners, 115-45

Sunday vs. Rangers, Darren Oliver (11-11, 6.12) vs. Aaron Sele (15-5, 3.56)

The M's are poised to make history Sunday, needing to win this game to break the 1906 Cubs' all-time wins record. Sele has won his last two starts, while Oliver has lost three in a row.
