Yankees starter Domingo Germán (left hip flexor) reports he played catch for the first time during his rehab yesterday. He'll play catch again today. He says the sensation of pain is gone. He's doing exercises and stretches he couldn't do when he was first hurt. Adds that he's feeling better. Luis Severino continues throwing off flat ground, but hasn't yet gotten on a mound. Yankees continue to be very careful and patient with getting him back. Severino says he thinks he'll need at least five bullpen sessions off the mound before he gets to a sim game/live BP. At that point, it would be like going through a virtual spring training, manager Aaron Boone said.

Giancarlo Stanton says he actually "tore" his left biceps muscle when that was first hurt. Then, as he started swinging again, that shoulder began acting up. That led to a cortisone shot. When he was hit by that pitch in the knee later during his rehab, he said it left his calf unstable, leading to the strain. He says the entire time he spent on the IL was "very frustrating; not ideal."

Yankees lefty Jordan Montgomery "had a little discomfort" in a bullpen session in Tampa today, Aaron Boone says. The manager didn't have too much he felt he could elaborate on with that when he met reporters before Tuesday's game versus Tampa Bay. Montgomeryis coming off Tommy John surgery.

The Yankees officially activated Giancarlo Stanton from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Stanton has been sidelined since March 31 because of injuries to his biceps, shoulder and calf, missing 68 games over that stretch. The former National League MVP is expected to return to New York's starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.

So it appears Pablo Sandoval is not fine. Tyler Austin pinch-hit for him to lead off the sixth. Sandoval has been the Giants' best hitter this year, amazingly. He's batting 290/323/572.

Max Muncy stepped on Pablo Sandoval's right hand as he ran through first base for the final out of the fifth inning. Sandoval was in pain, but seems to be fine.

Kenta Maeda took a grounder to his right wrist/hand, but stressed that he was fine. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was content after just one warm-up pitch.

We're nearing the midway point of the season, and Max Muncy, who hit a ball 433 feet, has a .933 OPS, only 40 points below last year's breakout.

Kenley Jansen pleaded with Dave Roberts to let him take batting practice, saying he did it once in May and it was time to do so in June. Jansen got his wish. "At 70 miles power, batting practice, he looks great," Roberts said. "But when the ball starts to spin, not so much."

Justin Turner is out of the lineup for "precautionary" reasons, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. Turner is probably available off the bench, but Kenley Jansen has the day off after pitching three straight days. It'll either be Pedro Baez or Julio Urias if a save situation arises.
