Brewers pick up Adam Lind's option for 2016

First baseman Adam Lind, who led the Milwaukee Brewers in RBIs in his first season with the team, had his 2016 option exercised by the club Tuesday.

Lind, 32, is scheduled to make $8 million next season. The Brewers could have bought him out for $500,000.

Lind was acquired before last season in a trade that sent pitcher Marco Estrada to the Toronto Blue Jays. He finished 2015 with a .277 average, 32 doubles, 20 home runs and 87 RBIs in 149 games. He started a career-high 134 games at first base.

The 10-year veteran has a .274 average, 166 home runs and 606 RBIs in 1,102 career games.
