Athletics place Danny Valencia on DL, recall Tyler Ladendorf

TORONTO -- The Oakland Athletics have placed infielder Danny Valencia on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring, retroactive to Thursday.

Infielder Tyler Ladendorf was recalled from Triple-A Nashville. Both moves were announced Friday.

Valencia is batting .294 with no home runs and two RBIs in 14 games this season. He left Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees after being thrown out while trying to score and didn't play Thursday.

Valencia is the seventh Oakland player on the DL. The others are right-hander Henderson Alvarez, right-hander R.J. Alvarez, left-hander Felix Doubront, right-hander Jarrod Parker, outfielder Sam Fuld and infielder Eric Sogard.

Ladendorf has played every position except pitcher, catcher and first base during his time in the minor leagues. He appeared in nine games for Oakland last season, batting .235 with no homers and two RBIs.
