Dominguez, who can play first and third base, hit .215 with 16 home runs and 57 RBI in 157 games with Houston last season. The four-year veteran was batting .311 with two home runs and 14 RBI in 17 games at Triple-A, where he had an eight-game hitting streak before being promoted.
Third baseman Josh Donaldson started at DH Monday because of lingering soreness after being hit on the left leg by a pitch Saturday.
