Brewers draft OF Corey Ray at No. 5

ESPN Stats & Info

The Milwaukee Brewers selected Louisville outfielder Corey Ray with the No. 5 pick in Thursday night's MLB first-year player draft.

Scouting report: Ray is a stocky speedster with strong wrists and forearms that help him hit the ball to all fields, though the contact is not always quality contact. Ray has solid across-the-board tools; he's a 55 or 60 runner, has either fringe ability in center field or potentially plus defense in a corner-outfield spot and has the bat speed and physicality to hit for both average and power.
