Andrew Cashner agrees to 1-year, $10M deal with Rangers

The Texas Rangers have agreed with free-agent right-hander Andrew Cashner on a one-year deal worth $10 million, as first reported by Fox Sports and confirmed by ESPN's Jim Bowden.

Cashner, 30, went 5-11 last season with the San Diego Padres and Miami Marlins with a 5.25 ERA over 27 starts and one relief appearance.

Over seven major league seasons, Cashner has a 31-53 record with a 3.89 ERA.

Cashner, a Texas native who attended TCU, indicated in September that he would be interested in re-signing with Miami as a free agent if the organization reconsidered its no-beard policy.

Cashner, who sported a thick beard for years with the Padres before being traded to Miami during the non-waiver trade deadline, told the Miami Herald that the Marlins' facial-hair rule "is a big deal to me in free agency."
