Carrillo's name was included in a Miami New Times report earlier this year, when the alternative weekly newspaper said it acquired records from a Florida clinic the paper said sold banned performance-enhancing drugs.
The Tigers say Carrillo served his suspension and was given his unconditional release. They did not say when he was released.
Carrillo's suspension was effective at the start of the season. He was on the roster of Erie, which is Detroit's Double-A affiliate.
A 29-year-old right-hander, Carrillo was 1-2 with a 13.06 ERA in three starts for San Diego in 2009.
