The Dodgers activated both Kiké Hernandez and Chris Taylor off the injured list, as expected. They'll join another versatile infielder, Jedd Gyorko. Should be interesting to see how they use them.

The Dodgers scored 15 runs -- while hitting only two singles. They bashed out 13 extra-base hits (not the most this year as the Red Sox had 14 in a 19-3 win over the Yankees on July 25). But, via Elias, there are the first team since 1900 to score 15-plus runs in a game while hitting so few singles. Baseball in 2019!

Reacting to an L.A. Daily News item that the Dodgers plan to add eight feet to the height of protective netting behind home plate this week, Jana Brody told ESPN's Outside the Lines Monday: "Wow, made me cry." Brody's mother, Linda Goldbloom, 79, died of a brain injury last August after a ball fouled back into the loge — just over netting — struck her in the head. Team president Stan Kasten said in the News story the plan is also for netting extensions down both base lines in 3 weeks. Brody said she's grateful for journalists' reporting about danger in the stands: "Awareness of the frequency and severity of the injuries and my mom's death needed to be shared with the public in order for safety measures to improve."
