Amir Albazi announced as winner via split decision

Aaron Pico will take on Pedro Carvalho in a featherweight contender fight at Bellator 299 on Sept. 23 in Dublin, the promotion announced Tuesday. Pico, still just 26 years old, has won seven of his last eight fights with the lone loss coming via injury. Carvalho, an SBG Ireland product, is 2-2 in his last four fights. Bellator 299 is headlined by a middleweight title fight between champion Johnny Eblen and challenger Fabian Edwards.
Claressa Shields tells me her plan following her June 3 main event against Hanna Gabriels is to fight in MMA next — she'll start training after her fight and is looking for a new trainer after parting with Jackson Wink. The plan is for her to fight in MMA once in fall 2023 and twice in 2024. Her manager, Mark Taffet, also told ESPN they are in negotiations to extend Shields' deal with the PFL.
Cat Zingano stated her case for a women's featherweight title shot with a unanimous-decision win over Leah McCourt at Bellator 293 on Friday in Temecula, California. Zingano, a onetime UFC title challenger, earned the 29-28 support of two of the three judges.
