Rory MacDonald vs. Douglas Lima is now set for Oct. 26 at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, ESPN confirmed with Bellator officials Thursday. Bellator president Scott Coker told MMA Fighting the news ahead of the promotion's event this weekend. MacDonald will defend his Bellator welterweight title in the bout and it is also the final of the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix. In the semifinals, MacDonald beat Neiman Gracie and Lima knocked out Michael Page to set up a rematch. MacDonald beat Lima to win the Bellator title in January 2018.
Jessica Andrade has made it to China early. She's currently training at the new UFC Performance Institute in Shanghai. Andre Soukhamthath is there, too. The UFC might have to re-route a few flights away from Hong Kong due to the protests, I'm told. But as of right now UFC Shenzhen doesn't seem like it'll have any setbacks due to the political conflict in the region. About 1.7 million people marched Sunday in Hong Kong to protest an extradition bill. Last week, protestors of alleged police brutality sat in at the Hong Kong airport, which affected many flights. A video surfaced online last week showing Chinese military staging in Shenzhen, which borders Hong Kong. This is likely to be a developing situation as the UFC event there grows closer.
A few other interesting weight notes. Daniel Cormier weighed 247 pounds on fight night after weighing in at 236.5 on Friday. Miocic was 233 after being 230.5 on Friday. Sodiq Yusuff weighed 169.2 after weighing in at 145. He was 15.9 percent over the contracted weight class.
