Miesha Tate to fight Sara McMann

Former UFC title contenders Miesha Tate and Sara McMann have agreed to meet at UFC 183 on Jan. 31 in Las Vegas.

"UFC Tonight" announced the pairing on Wednesday. The event will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Tate and McMann have each fought for the UFC bantamweight title within the past year. Defending champion Ronda Rousey submitted Tate in the third round of a title bid in December. She knocked out McMann in the first round of a title fight two months later.

Tate (15-5), who trains out of Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, bounced back with a 2-0 campaign in 2014. The two wins came against Liz Carmouche and Rin Nakai, both via unanimous decision.

An Olympic silver-medalist wrestler for the U.S. in 2004, McMann (8-1) is coming off a split decision win against Lauren Murphy in August. The 34-year-old is 2-1 overall in the UFC.

A nontitle middleweight fight between Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz is set to headline UFC 183.
