Dustin Poirier-Yancy Medeiros added to UFC Fight Night in New Orleans

A lightweight bout between Dustin Poirier and Yancy Medeiros has been added to UFC Fight Night on June 6 in New Orleans.

UFC officials announced the 155-pound contest on Tuesday. The UFC Fight Night event takes place at Smoothie King Center.

Poirier (17-4) is fresh off a successful return to the lightweight division. The American Top Team member scored a first-round knockout against Carlos Diego Ferreira on Saturday in Fairfax, Virginia. It was Poirier's first fight at 155 pounds since November 2010.

Prior to moving back up in weight, Poirier had made 11 consecutive appearances in the UFC's featherweight division, compiling an 8-3 record. The 26-year-old's only losses in the UFC have come to ranked opponents Conor McGregor, Cub Swanson and Chan Sung Jung.

Medeiros (11-2) is coming off a first-round submission victory against Joe Proctor at TUF 20 in December. He will look to build off back-to-back submission wins against Proctor and Damon Jackson.

A nontitle light heavyweight fight between Daniel Cormier (15-1) and Ryan Bader (19-4) is scheduled to headline the UFC Fight Night event.
