KO of the midyear: Hisaki Kato vs. Joe Schilling

In the first round of Hisaki Kato's middleweight fight against Joe Schilling at Bellator 139 in Mulvane, Kansas, someone (his coach, a loud fan, whoever) could be clearly heard yelling to Kato that Schilling was 'hating' the fact the fight was on the ground.

It's probably safe to say Schilling hated what happened in the second round even more.

At 34 seconds into the second round, Kato absolutely annihilated Schilling with a Superman left-handed punch. The 32-year-old Japanese middleweight essentially took a running start into the punch, flattening Schilling as he tried to throw a counter left hook.

It was a late entry in the half-year awards, but it immediately claimed the No. 1 spot. Up until June 26, the slick spinning backfist landed by Paul Felder against Danny Castillo at UFC 182 would have likely earned the honor.

Schilling, understandably, has been a popular figure in 2015, as the charismatic kickboxing veteran had at one point expressed interest in competing in three sports (MMA, kickboxing and boxing) simultaneously. He's no stranger to the highlight reel, although he would have likely rather stayed out of this one.
