Thiago Alves, Ben Henderson to meet in welterweight clash

Former lightweight champion Ben Henderson will meet welterweight Thiago Alves in a 170-pound fight on Nov. 28 in South Korea.

UFC officials have announced that the welterweight matchup will headline a UFC Fight Night at Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul. The event will mark the promotion's first trip to South Korea.

In addition to the main event, officials announced a heavyweight bout between Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic (31-11-2) and Anthony Hamilton (14-4) and a welterweight fight between Dong Hyun Kim (20-3-1) and Jorge Masvidal (29-9).

Henderson (22-5) is coming off a submission win against welterweight Brandon Thatch in a short-notice fight on Feb. 14. After suffering a decision loss to Donald Cerrone in January, Henderson made a quick turnaround and moved up in weight for the opportunity.

The Arizona native has lost two of his past three fights. He was briefly linked to a matchup against Michael Johnson this summer, but the fight fell through and Henderson will stay at the higher weight.

Alves is coming off a second-round TKO loss to Carlos Condit in May.

ESPN originally reported that the fight would take place at 155 pounds.
