Jon Fitch-Jake Shields bout co-headlines WSOF card on Dec. 31

World Series of Fighting will promote three title fights on Dec. 31 in New York, according to company president Ray Sefo.

A welterweight title fight between champion Jon Fitch and Jake Shields, originally scheduled for Nov. 12, will now co-headline the New York event. The card will take place at Madison Square Garden Theater and air on NBC.

Lightweight champion Justin Gaethje (16-0) will seek his fourth title defense against Joao Zeferino in the main event, and bantamweight titleholder Marlon Moraes (17-4-1) will face a challenger to be determined.

The previously announced Nov. 12 event in Loveland, Colorado, has been canceled, as has a planned show on Dec. 3, in order to feature New Year's Eve. Sefo announced the changes on The MMA Hour on Monday.

Shields (31-8-1) was originally expected to fight Fitch (28-7-1) for the vacant title earlier this year, but the fight didn't come together due to a contract negotiation. Sefo told ESPN.com last month the two sides had reached terms on a new deal. Shields hasn't fought since August 2015.
