Covington and Usman exchange words at hotel

Kamaru Usman's first UFC welterweight title defense is expected to come against Colby Covington, and the two already started getting into it less than 24 hours after Usman claimed the belt.

Video obtained by TMZ showed Covington and Usman in an incident at the Palms Casino Resort on Sunday while the two were waiting in a line. Onlookers immediately grabbed their phones to video the argument, which included Usman's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, throwing a punch at Covington.

As far as the two fighters, it was mostly a battle of posturing since security guards and other handlers were between the two fighters. In the video, at least one person can be heard telling someone to "chill" and an onlooker says they should settle it in the Octagon.

The incident at the hotel wasn't first between the fighters last weekend. After Usman, 31, won the belt, he exchanged words with Covington, who was sitting cageside at T-Mobile Arena. Covington, despite not fighting Saturday night, appeared to be multiple places around Vegas in advance of UFC 235.

Even prior to Saturday's title fight between Usman (15-1) and Tyron Woodley, Covington (14-1) was the No. 1-ranked contender for the belt. Usman beat Woodley in a unanimous decision to claim the belt.

UFC president Dana White said this past weekend that Covington will face Usman at a time and date to be determined for Usman's welterweight title.
