Chad Mendes gets foe for UFC 157

Featherweight contender Chad Mendes will face Manvel Gamburyan on Feb. 23 at UFC 157, the promotion announced Thursday.

Mendes (13-1) will enter the fight riding a two-bout win streak. In his most recent bout on Dec. 14, Mendes knocked out Yaotzin Meza in the first round.

His lone professional loss occurred Jan. 14 in a title bout against champion Jose Aldo. Mendes was knocked out in the opening round.

Gamburyan (12-7) snapped a three-fight skid Aug. 4 with a unanimous decision over Michihiro Omigawa.

UFC 157 will be held at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will be making the first defense of her title against Liz Carmouche.

The five-round fight between Rousey and Carmouche marks the first time women will compete in UFC.
