Sources: Frankie Edgar-Pedro Munhoz moved to Aug. 22 UFC Fight Night

A bantamweight matchup between Frankie Edgar and Pedro Munhoz will now headline UFC Fight Night on Aug. 22 in Las Vegas, sources told ESPN.

The 135-pound contest was originally scheduled to take place on July 15 at Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, but was postponed when Munhoz tested positive for COVID-19. The bout was initially re-scheduled for UFC 252 on Aug. 15, but has now moved again to Aug. 22, as the UFC needed a headliner for that date.

The UFC Fight Night event will take place at the UFC's Apex facility in Las Vegas. Combate first reported the new main event.

Edgar (23-8-1) will finally make his debut at 135 pounds. The former lightweight champion decided to move down from 145 pounds after losing to then-champion Max Holloway in July 2019, but the move has been postponed numerous times due to various circumstances. He ended up accepting a 145-pound bout against Chan Sung Jung as a late replacement in December, and lost via knockout.

Munhoz (18-4) is looking to rebound from a decision loss to Aljamain Sterling in June 2019. He had won three in a row prior to the loss, including a knockout over former champion Cody Garbrandt.
