WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - - Ross Haggard provided the pitching and Terrence McConn the punch as Bellaire, Texas, advanced to the Little League World Series championship game.

Haggard pitched a four-hitter and struck out 13, and McConn hit two homers and drove in four runs as Bellaire beat Davenport, Iowa, 8-0 Thursday night in the U.S. Pool championship game.

Bellaire will face Maracaibo, Venezuela, which upset Tokyo 5-4 in the International Pool final earlier Thursday, for the Series title on Saturday.

McConn's power came as a bit of a surprise, but Haggard's pitching did not. It was Haggard's second win of the Series after he pitched a one-hitter - coming within two outs of a perfect game - and struck out 12 in Sunday's 3-0 win over the East. Haggard also earned a save in Tuesday's 4-2 preliminary round win over Davenport.

In 13 innings this week, he struck out 27. Little League officials did not know if that was a Series record.

Not bad for Haggard, who qualified for All-Star play a week before the deadline after breaking his wrist in a spring snowboarding accident.

And not bad for a Bellaire team that had previously never advanced past district play.

Nick Mirfield and Michael Johnson - with his third of the series - also homered for Bellaire, which became the sixth Texas team to reach the finals, and first since Spring in 1995.

The loss ended Davenport's heady run at the series, as the Iowans not only ended a three-year Central Region losing streak, but became the first Central team to reach the final since pool play was introduced in 1992.

On Thursday, Davenport fell behind early and couldn't catch up, especially against Haggard.

Bellaire struck for three runs in the first, and went up 4-0 on McConn's solo shot in the third.

Davenport then mounted its lone threat in the fourth, loading the bases with no outs. But Haggard struck out the next three batters, and then struck out the first two in the fifth.

Bellaire broke the game open with a four-run fourth, sparked by McConn's three-run shot.
