Lockbaum home broken into during Series

Associated Press

WORCESTER, Mass. -- A Little Leaguer's home was broken into while he and his family attended the Little League World Series.

Police said Gordon Lockbaum Sr., father of Worcester, Mass., team member Gordie Lockbaum, arrived home Sunday evening from South Williamsport, Pa., and discovered the robbery.

Worcester lost 9-1 Sunday to Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, in the consolation game. Police said a safe was taken from the home.

The elder Lockbaum was a star halfback at Division I-AA Holy Cross, where he finished fifth for the Heisman Trophy in 1986 and third in 1987. He was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame last year.
