PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Allen Iverson hopes to get his shooting touch back and the Philadelphia 76ers look to make the most of their home court tonight when they host the Charlotte Hornets in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series. Iverson, who scored a career playoff-high 40 points to lead the 76ers to a 92-82 Game 1 triumph at Charlotte on Saturday, managed just 13 on 5-of-21 shooting in a 108-98 overtime loss Monday in Game 2. The NBA's second-leading scorer was held in check by Eddie Jones, who played 50 minutes in Game 2. "You can't really shut the little guy down, but if I know I'm on the floor I can contest a lot of shots," Jones said.
Charlotte's Derrick Coleman scored eight of his 29 points in the extra session and Jones also had 19 points, eight rebounds and eight assists but missed a potential game-winning jumper at the end of regulation. He contributed a 3-pointer in the extra session as Charlotte handed Philadelphia its first loss in six overtime games this season. Toni Kukoc scored 20 points off the bench and Eric Snow added 19 and 13 assists for the Sixers, who blew a five-point lead in the final 2½ minutes of the fourth quarter. However, Snow suffered a chip fracture of his right ankle in Game 2 and was fitted for a walking boot. He is questionable for tonight and Iverson is nursing toe, shoulder and elbow ailments. Charlotte won both visits to the First Union Center this season, including a 95-93 triumph on Feb. 15. Jones scored 27 points in that contest, including a 22-foot bank shot with 2.2 seconds left. Game 4 is in Philadelphia on Monday night.
