Kevin Garnett
T-Wolves F 6-11 26 Might not be his last MVP
Garnett took matters in his own hands, scoring the West's first seven points in the second overtime. His 37 points was the fourth-highest total in All-Star Game history and the most since Michael Jordan scored 40 in 1988. Perhaps even more impressive was Garnett's mentioning of estranged ex-teammate Stephon Marbury in his acceptance speech. Da Kid has grown up. Grade: A+
Tim Duncan
Spurs F 7-0 26 Just another 19 and 15
Not lost in the shadow of Garnett's monster game was Duncan's double-double of 19 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. TD had a clutch 3-point play with 37.2 seconds left in regulation to keep the West within a point. Grade: A
Yao Ming
Rockets C 7-5 22 How could he disappear?
Yao's first All-Star Game began impressively with an alley-oop slam from fellow Rocket Steve Francis. After that, Yao's whereabouts are sketchy. West head coach Rick Adelman didn't call on his starting center after Yao played seven minutes in the third quarter and managed only a personal four in the box score. His final numbers: two points and two rebounds in 17 minutes. Grade: F
Kobe Bryant
Lakers G 6-7 24 Missed costly free throws
Kobe Bryant rarely fails in clutch situations. But that was No. 8 making only one of two free throws with 10.1 seconds left in regulation and sinking only two of three free throws with a second to play in the first overtime. In both instances, a perfect trip to the line would've won the game. We are nitpicking, of course. Kobe had his usual solid game with 22 points, seven rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks. Grade: B+
Steve Francis
Rockets G 6-3 25 Got abused by AI
Francis had the unenviable task of trying to stop Allen Iverson, who drove by Stevie Franchise repeatedly on the way to a 35-point night. It's not like Francis didn't do some of his own damage. He had 20 points (on 9-of-12 shooting) and nine assists in his second straight All-Star start. Grade: B-
Stephon Marbury
Suns G 6-2 25 Odd-man out among PGs
You could tell Marbury wanted to have a good time when he slide-stepped his way up the court while bringing up the ball in the first quarter against Jason Kidd. He didn't play at all in overtime, though, with Steve Francis, Steve Nash and Gary Payton ahead of him. Marbury only had four points but did record six assists in 15 minutes. Grade: C
Shawn Marion
Suns F 6-7 24 Seems to float on air
Maybe Marion, not rookie teammate Amare Stoudemire, should've been in Saturday's dunk contest. Marion provided a couple of memorable moments with his spike dunks, finishing with eight points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes. Grade: B
Steve Nash
Mavericks G 6-3 29 Carried Canadian flag again
Funny, but Nash may be more fun to watch with his own team, the Mavericks. He didn't have many chances -- or the freedom -- to dribble-drive and wreak havoc on the East defense. The 6-foot-3 Nash did have five rebounds to go with his two points and three assists, so that's somewhat impressive for the B.C. kid playing in his second straight All-Star Game. Grade: C
Dirk Nowitzki
Mavericks F 7-0 24 Represented West's depth
When you have a player like Dirk Nowitzki coming off the bench, you know you have depth. Nowitzki bombed away from the outside, shooting four of eight (including one 3-pointer) to score nine points. However, he did very little boardwork (one rebound in 16 minutes). Grade: C
Shaquille O'Neal
Lakers C 7-1 30 Simply ran over people
How did Shaquille O'Neal pay tribute to Michael Jordan? By blocking his shot. After rejecting Jordan's driving layup, Shaq told MJ, "Not in here. Don't bring it in here." For that attitude, Shaq deserves credit for playing with a purpose. If you need further proof, check out these numbers -- 19 points and 13 rebounds in 26 minutes. Now that's productive. Grade: A
Gary Payton
Sonics G 6-4 34 West's only 30something
Payton did nothing flashy, but he did score eight points on 4-of-6 shooting. His assists (2) to turnover (3) ratio was surprising. Grade: C
Peja Stojakovic
Kings F 6-10 25 3-point contest wa
The defense of his 3-point shooting title remained the highlight of Stojakovic's weekend, as he shot only 2-of-7 from the field (1-of-4 on 3s) and scored just five points in 13 minutes. The intense, take-it-to-the-hole nature of the game left Stojakovic standing on the perimeter looking in. Grade: D
Rick Adelman
Kings       Evened record at 1-1
Adelman was having fun out there. Huh? Adelman, have fun? Yes, he was. Just look at the lineups he was rolling out there in the first half -- an all-shooters lineup and then an all-bigs lineup with Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal and Yao Ming (Steve Francis was the point guard). Hey, that kind of thinking takes imagination and creativity. Way to go, Coach! Grade: A.
