Va. Tech's Delaney declares for draft

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech guard Malcolm Delaney says he is putting his name in for the NBA draft, but he does not plan to hire an agent.

That would allow Delaney to retain his eligibility and return for his senior season. He must take his name off the list of early entries by May 8 to return to Virginia Tech.

Delaney, a junior from Baltimore, led the Atlantic Coast Conference in scoring with an average of 20.2 points. He was third in the ACC in free throw percentage at .842.

He finished third in the ACC's player of the year voting as the Hokies tied their school record by winning 25 games. They lost at home to Rhode Island in the quarterfinals of the NIT.
