New Mexico junior forward Darington Hobson will declare for the NBA draft but will not hire an agent, two sources close to the situation told ESPN.com on Monday.
A formal announcement of Hobson's decision is expected to come at a news conference Tuesday.
By not hiring an agent, the versatile 6-foot-7-inch All-American leaves open the possibility he will return to the Lobos for one more season.
The junior college transfer was named the Mountain West Conference's player of the year and led the team with 15.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game in his only year at New Mexico.
The Lobos won 30 games along with the conference championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, in which Hobson played with a sore wrist.
Hobson has until May 8 to withdraw from the draft.
