When the New Orleans Pelicans traded for DeMarcus Cousins over the All-Star break, many presumed it would spur the Pelicans toward playoff contention. New Orleans was officially eliminated from reaching the postseason Tuesday, so it appears that trade didn't pan out in the short term -- even if the long-term implications are still very much up in the air.
