| | DENVER -- The Denver Nuggets will train this year in their
own building, the Pepsi Center in downtown Denver, rather than at
the Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs, where they've trained
for a number of years, officials announced.
Officials said Monday it's more convenient and allows players to
avoid wasting time traveling. They also like the idea of holding
practice on the floor they own.
The Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and the new Pepsi Center are
being purchased by Denver businessman Donald Sturm from Ascent
Entertainment.
Throughout the Nuggets' history, the players have had to
schedule practice time on floors they did not control, whether it
was at the Air Force Academy, the University of Denver or area high
schools and health clubs. They played home games at McNichols arena
though last season.
The Pepsi Center is there for the Nuggets whenever they want it,
officials said.
Their camp starts Oct. 4.
