A deal involving four teams and nine players is awaiting approval from the NBA office, according to Ric Bucher of ESPN the Magazine.
If the deal between Golden State, Utah, Boston and Dallas meets salary-cap approval, here's the way it will shake out:
The Warriors would get forward-center Danny Fortson from the Celtics
and forward Adam Keefe from the Jazz.
The Jazz would get forward Donyell Marshall from the Warriors.
The Celtics would get a conditional first-round pick from the Jazz plus centers Bruno Sundov and John "Hot Rod"
Williams and guard Robert Pack from the Mavs.
The Mavs would get guards Dana Barros from the Celtics and Howard
Eisley from the Jazz and forward Bill Curley from the Warriors.
Jazz spokesman Dave Allred said the deal is about 80 percent
done and the teams hoped to get league approval and announce the
trade by Thursday.
"It always becomes more complicated the more players and the
more teams that are involved," said Allred. "This deal still is
constantly being tweaked. It's a little bit different today than it
was four times yesterday."
Fortson and Eisley have not signed contracts with the Celtics and Jazz,
respectively, but will do so as part of the sign-and-trade transaction if
the league approves the deal.
Marshall might be the headliner of the trade, being one of just eight players to average double figures
in points and rebounds in at least 30 games. Last year, he averaged
14.2 points and a career-high 10 rebounds a game in 64 games with
Golden State.
He is a small forward who can also play power forward and
provide backup help for Karl Malone and Bryon Russell with the Jazz.
