NEW YORK Orlando's Mike Miller, already honored as the
NBA's top rookie, was the only unanimous selection Thursday for the
league's All-Rookie Team.
The swingman, who averaged 11.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7
assists and 29.1 minutes, was joined on the first team by New
Jersey's Kenyon Martin, Golden State's Marc Jackson, Toronto's
Morris Peterson and the Los Angeles Clippers' Darius Miles.
Miller received the maximum 56 points in voting by the league's
coaches. He was selected as Rookie of the Year last week.
Filling in for injured All-Star Grant Hill, Miller was the only
rookie to appear in all of his team's games. Orlando chose Miller
with the fifth overall pick in the NBA draft after helping Florida
reach the 2000 NCAA championship game as a sophomore.
Martin was the top pick in the draft out of Cincinnati and was
averaging 12 points and 7.4 rebounds when he broke his right leg
March 22, ending his season.
The 26-year-old Jackson was a second-round pick of the Warriors
in 1997, but he played three seasons in Turkey and Spain before
surprisingly making Golden State's roster in training camp.
His 13.2 points and 7.5 rebounds led all rookies this season.
Peterson, a key on Michigan State's 2000 NCAA champions,
averaged 9.3 points and 3.2 rebounds for the Raptors.
The 19-year-old Miles, drafted straight out of high school,
averaged 9.4 points and 5.9 rebounds for the Clippers.
The All-Rookie second team was comprised of Sacramento's Hidayet
Turkoglu, Seattle's Desmond Mason, Washington's Courtney Alexander,
Chicago's Marcus Fizer and Cleveland's Chris Mihm.
