DENVER -- San Antonio Spurs free-agent guard Avery Johnson is scheduled to arrive early next week for a three-day visit to Denver.

At least three other teams have offered Johnson deals, but the Denver Nuggets are the front-runner in Johnson's mind, agent Tony Dutt said Wednesday. He declined to comment on the other offers.

The Nuggets are considering signing the veteran point guard to a three-year deal using their $4.5 million exception. Dutt is seeking a four-year deal for Johnson.

The 36-year-old played 21 games for the Nuggets in 1990 and has spent the last seven seasons with San Antonio.

Johnson has averaged 8.9 points and 6.0 assists over 13 NBA seasons. He averaged 5.6 points and 4.3 assists last season.
