SAN ANTONIO -- David Robinson re-signed with the San Antonio
Spurs on Saturday, keeping the Spurs' Twin Towers intact.
The 7-foot-1 Robinson has played all 12 of his NBA seasons with
the Spurs and teamed with 7-footer Tim Duncan to lead the team to
the 1999 championship.
Robinson's deal has been reported to be worth $20 million over
two years.
Team spokesman B.J. Sohn said both Robinson and Spurs coach and
general manager Gregg Popovich were unavailable for comment.
Robinson's agent, Jeff Austin, did not immediately return a
telephone message left by The Associated Press at his office.
Last season, Robinson had career-low averages of 14.4 points and
8.6 rebounds as the Spurs reached the Western Conference finals,
where they were swept by the Los Angeles Lakers.
His career averages are 22.8 points and 11.1 rebounds, he is a
10-time All-Star and was the league's MVP in 1995.
The signing shores up the Spurs' frontcourt during an offseason
when its guards are leaving.
Derek Anderson, who signed a one-year deal with the Spurs last
year and proved valuable in opening up defenses with his outside
shooting, has agreed to a multiyear deal with Portland.
Avery Johnson, a member of the Spurs' 1999 NBA title team, will
play for Denver next season.
