DENVER -- The Denver Nuggets waived guard Tim Hardaway on Tuesday, the deadline for deciding whether to keep the 13-year veteran.
The Nuggets will buy out the final two years of Hardaway's contract for $1 million. He was set to earn $3.7 million next season.
Hardaway, 35, appeared in 14 games for the Nuggets last season before breaking his left foot in a game against Seattle on March 23.
He averaged 9.6 points and 5.5 assists after he was acquired by Denver in a seven-player trade with the Dallas Mavericks Feb. 21.
That deal sent Denver's top two scorers, Nick Van Exel and Raef LaFrentz, along with Avery Johnson and Tariq Abdul-Wahad to the Mavericks.
The Nuggets got Hardaway, Juwan Howard, Donnell Harvey, cash and a first-round draft pick.
Hardaway had been the Mavericks' backup point guard.
He was suspended for two games on March 16 for throwing a TV monitor onto the court after he was ejected from a game in Orlando the day before. |
