CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. -- Milwaukee Bucks forward Glenn Robinson was released on $5,000 bail Sunday after being arrested for shoving his former fiancee in her house.
Robinson is expected to appear in court Aug. 19 for a preliminary hearing, according to Marcy O'Boyle, a spokeswoman for the Cook County state's attorney's office.
The No. 1 pick in the 1994 NBA draft was arrested Saturday on charges of domestic battery, assault and illegal possession of a firearm.
"I'm very sorry for the incident,'' Robinson said Sunday. "I regret any embarrassment to my family, my friends, the Bucks organization and Bucks fans who have supported me. I will do whatever is necessary to resolve this situation and move forward.''
O'Boyle said Robinson showed up at his ex-fiancee's house in Chicago Heights on Saturday and demanded to be let in. She refused at first, but Robinson was later let inside, O'Boyle said.
"He pushed and shoved his ex-fiancee,'' O'Boyle said.
Robinson was charged with illegal possession of a firearm because he did not have a valid Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification card, Chicago Heights Police Department Sgt. David Wierzbicki said.
"Glenn wants to do whatever is necessary to resolve the situation to the best interest of all parties involved. We will support him in his efforts to do so,'' Bucks general manager Ernie Grunfeld said. |
