James collides with Ford in opening quarter

Associated Press

BOSTON -- LeBron James bruised his right thigh in a first-quarter collision with the Milwaukee Bucks' T.J. Ford in the Cleveland Cavaliers' 100-80 loss in a summer league game Saturday night.

James, who could miss Sunday's finale against Washington, had 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting and added nine rebounds and five assists in 27 minutes. He also had five turnovers.

"I'm hoping I can play," James said.

James, the former high school star drafted first overall by the Cavaliers, is averaging 18 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists in three games in Boston.
