Bum knee keeps delaying guard's return

NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks placed guards Allan Houston and Jamison Brewer and center Bruno Sundov on the injured list Monday.

Houston will start the season on the injured list because of
chronic pain in his left knee. He sat out the final 32 games of the
regular season and the playoffs last season with knee pain. He
averaged 18.5 points for the Knicks, who were swept by the New
Jersey Nets
in the first round.

Houston, who joined the Knicks in 1996, averaged a career-high
22.5 points in 2002-03.

Brewer has a sprained right big toe and Sundov right Achilles tendinitis.

The Knicks open the season Wednesday night at Minnesota.
