Wilkins to stay with Sonics

SEATTLE -- The Seattle SuperSonics matched the offer sheet tendered to swingman Damien Wilkins by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Sonics general manager Rick Sund announced Wednesday.

Terms were not disclosed.

The 6-foot-5 Wilkins averaged 6.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in just
under 18 minutes per game as a rookie last season. He averaged
5.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in seven playoff games for Seattle,
which lost to eventual champion San Antonio in the Western
Conference semifinals.

"Due to his outstanding work ethic in his rookie season, Damien
earned the respect of our players, coaches and fans," Sund said.
