Jim Paxson joins brother John's Bulls as consultant

CHICAGO -- Jim Paxson is going to work for his brother --
Chicago Bulls general manager John Paxson.

Jim Paxson, former general manager for the Cleveland Cavaliers,
was hired Wednesday as a consultant by the Bulls.

"Jim's hiring was multipurpose," John Paxson said in a
statement. "He's played, scouted, and most important of all, he
brings added experience and insight to my role having been [vice
president] and GM of the Cleveland Cavaliers. I felt strongly, that
at this critical time in the Bulls' development, an experienced
voice would serve this organization well at many levels."

The Cavaliers were 185-307 and never made the playoffs in Jim
Paxson's six years as general manager. He was fired in April 2005.

A 6-foot-6 guard, Jim Paxson averaged 14.3 points in 11 seasons
and was a two-time All-Star in eight-plus seasons playing with the
Portland Trail Blazers.
