Nets sign Gill to fill in for injured guard Armstrong

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New Jersey Nets signed guard
Eddie Gill on Friday to fill in for backup point guard Darrell Armstrong, who is sidelined by a thigh injury.

A five-year veteran, Gill has averaged 3.1 points and 1.1
assists in 167 career games. While playing for the Nets in 2001, he
was credited with scoring the eight-millionth point in NBA history
during a game against the Boston Celtics.

Gill averaged 4.3 points, 3.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds in four
preseason games with New Jersey before being cut.

He has been playing with the Colorado 14ers of the NBA
Development League in Broomfield, Colo.

Armstrong was hurt against Boston earlier this week and is
expected to be sidelined up to a month.
