Abdur-Rahim undergoes season-ending knee surgery

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sacramento Kings forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim had surgery on his right knee Friday -- his second procedure in less than six months and is expected to
miss the rest of the season.

Abdur-Rahim underwent the arthroscopic procedure to remove bone
spurs and joint lining from his right knee at the UC Davis Medical
Center.

"This has been personally and emotionally frustrating not being able to help my teammates," Abdur-Rahim said, according to the Sacramento Bee. "However, we all have different challenges in life and this one is mine. God willing, I can find a way to still contribute and help my teammates while I work to get healthy."

Abdur-Rahim, in his 11th NBA season, averaged 1.7 points, 1.7
assists and 8.5 minutes per game in six games off the bench this
year for Sacramento. Abdur-Rahim averaged 9.9 points last season.
